Light reveals the world to us. It turns it on and off. Light fixes sensations of colours and shapes in our eyes. Light rules our life and controls our miraculously punctual biological clocks.

Light can strike our eyes with a sudden ray of sunlight or emotion us with a rainbow. Light has illuminated mankind’s evolution from fire to candles, light bulbs and laser.

Scientists have not been able so far to fully understand the real nature of light. Is it a wave? A particle? Both. Light is a mystery that will continue on surprising us in the future.

In view of the growing importance of the innovative philosophy on light, in 1995 iGuzzini decided to create its own Research and Investigation Center. The aim is to promote a cultural debate between the company and the other actors engaged with the quality of light: from architects to designers and investigators, including the general public. The initiative stems from the belief that technical lighting plays a crucial role in many fields of human activities, from working to cultural environments, without forgetting daily life.
