Reflections in stone. Egypt illuminated by Dante Ferretti

Turin, Italy

Thanks to an interior design project by the Oscar-winning scenographer Dante Ferretti (winner of the 2005 Oscar for his work on "The Aviator”), the statues displayed at the Egyptian Museum in Turin have emerged from over 150 years of exhibition and will now be displayed in a new light, on the occasion of the “Riflessi di Pietra" -Stone Reflections- display.

The space, which has been enlarged using mirrors and bathed in a striking red colour, is no longer inhabited by the statues alone, but now they are accompanied by their own shadows too. A new three-dimensional display detaches them from their surroundings and turns each statue into an individual work of art.

250 Le Perroquet projectors - in the spotlight version - are used to create the innovative frame of light: a concentrated and directed light presents each statue in a charming manner, letting the true essence of the exhibited works of art emerge.

It is a thought-provoking experience, an completed project which brings us pleasure, not only because of what Ferretti has achieved but also for the "revealing" role played by the light, which once again forms a team with art and once again bears witness to the constant dedication to cultural heritage demonstrated by iGuzzini.
